Paul Wilson Treasurer
Back in December 1989, I attended a church service at Knowle Parish Church, when the Vicar of the day Rev Andrew Dow, asked if people could help with driving a lorry over to Romania.
Unfortunately I volunteered too late to go on the first trip, but God had other plans for me, I ended up as one of the prayer and support team. I did go on the second trip in May 1990 to Poiana Mare Psychiatric Hospital to help renovate the children's wing. There we saw hundreds of children, in dimly lit rooms blacked out windows, 10 to a cot in some cases, covered in sores and their own mess. There was very little nursing care and little affection shown to the children by the staff. It is a sight, which will remain with me for the rest of my life.
Over the last 15 years I have returned on a couple of occasions. I am one of the founder members and have had many roles including: - Action Committee chairman for three years, secretary, and recently resigned as a representatives for the action committee on the board of Trustee's i have been co-opted to stay as the Treasurer.
The Lord has been very generous to me; He saved me and gave me Elizabeth, my wife, and our four children James 21, Tim 20, Felicity 17 and Tom 15, we have worshiped at Knowle Parish Church for the last 16 years.
